Give me 5 minutes in any store and I will undoubtedly find a thousand things I want. That is how this entire MAC haul I am about to share with you went down. Literally within 5 minutes I was £50 lighter with a small MAC bag in my hand. I mean it really is a skill and if anyone needs help spending their money, I am sure I can be of assistance. My mother always makes fun of me because I can literally walk into any store and find something I like, even if it is somewhere I wouldn't usually shop. I didn't go in with the intention of buying anything other than a Brush Cleanser and I wanted to fulfill a Back to MAC that I have had sitting around for a few weeks. However MAC have been on it recently with their new launches.
MAC have launched lots of products over the past few months. Some of my favourite collections have been: the MAC x Jeremy Scott Collection, the latest additions to the MAC Fix+ family, the Little MAC collection and of course the new Hyper Real Glow Palettes. MAC have left me wanting to try everything they are bringing out which isn't something I have said since I first got into Beauty blogging. Literally the day after I had done this shop, MAC launched the Prep + Prime Shimmer Fix+ which I really want to try but that is a product for a later date. For now lets focus on what I actually bought.
As I said I only went into MAC to complete a Back to MAC. I did a whole post on this which I will link here: Back to MAC: Take Two. To sum it up, I had 6 empties which I took Back to MAC to get a free lipstick of my choice. I think it is a great scheme, and it is something I have spoken about before. I know a lot of people I know don't even know about this scheme so I am going to keep talking about it on my blog to raise awareness. In exchange for my 6 empties, I picked Yash as my free lipstick. I hadn't gone in with the intention of getting Yash but that is what I left with. Yash is described as a 'Deep Neutral' by MAC and I would say it is quite a traditional nude, it has a hint of warmth but nothing too overwhelming. I have been wearing this regularly since I did the trade and I absolutely love it. Yash is a lipstick I would recommend you take a look at if you find Velvet Teddy a little bit too cool toned.
After I had picked the lipstick I wanted for my Back to MAC, I had a quick glance around. The sales assistant has left me alone for two minutes to get the Brush Cleanser I needed and the lipstick I had requested. I was looking around not really seeing much and that was when it hit me that the new Hyper Real Glow palette were out. I think they has been launched either the day I was in store or a few days before. Either way they were very new and I wanted to see them. On Instagram, I follow Dominic Skinner who is one of the MAC Senior Makeup Artists and he is a MAC guru. Literally any new MAC products which are launched, he is talking about them and quite often he gives sneak peaks of products which haven't been released. If you are a MAC fan, he is worth a follow. Anyway recently he has been showing the Hyper Real Glow Palettes and it has left me obsessed. The palettes looked incredible and I couldn't wait to get my hands on them to give them a swatch.
MAC have launched two different versions: a gold one and a pink one. Naturally I went for the pink version as I am deathly pale and pink highlighters suit me more. After having a glance around I couldn't see the two palettes on counter so when the Sales Assistant returned with my goods, I asked her about the palettes. Turns out they did have them but they didn't have the display yet. As soon as I swatched the first shade, I was sold. The formula reminded me of Tutu which was part of the Sweet Peach Face Compact a couple of years ago. I loved that highlight because it is buttery, soft and applies smooth and the highlights in this palette have a similar consistency. As I know how much I love Tutu I decided to give this palette a go. I most certainly didn't need another highlight palette but I couldn't let this one pass me by. Plus I may have missed out a key detail of this haul, it was 10% off MAC for the Easter Bank Holiday so I knew it was a great time to get anything I wanted. I will be doing a full review on this palette so I won't go into too much detail about it but what I can say is I have been using this palette everyday and I am seriously impressed. If you are looking for a smooth, blinding highlight this palette is something you should look into.
There is a particular shade in the MAC pigments that I have been thinking about getting for a while which is Vanilla. Once again Vanilla is a classic MAC shade which most people will have heard of but I was yet to try it. This pigment seemed like the perfect addition to my basket. I've actually bought a mini pigment before, I have the shade Tan and it is incredible. I use it quite a lot but a little goes a long way with these pigments which is why I do not feel the need to go for the bigger pot. I'm not sure I will finish a mini let alone the big ones. I wanted Vanilla for my inner corner highlight. I have been using it for this very purpose and I love it. The one downfall of this product is that it is quite messy but if you can get past that, these have an incredible shimmer which adds an extra dimension to any makeup look.
After my impulse decision to get a pigment, I walked away spending £50 with a bag containing a highlight palette, a brush cleanser, a mini pigment, a lipstick and a free sample of Strobe Cream. I would say that is a decent haul for £50. I have been using everything I bought and I have to say, this is probably one of the most successful shops I have done, I absolutely love everything! MAC really have been bringing out some amazing products and I think they are a brand who have been marginalised by other brands who have risen rather quickly. In the picture above I have used every product I bought in this haul and I think I look great, if I do say so myself.
