Summers are back and so is the scorching Sun! Add to it the increasing deforestation and lack of any clouds in the sky - you have a perfect microwave oven outside. Sometimes I feel like singing the little Johnny’s poem with my touch:
"Sun, Sun go away; Give a rest to your blow
Let our skin get cool and calm, let it revive its healthy glow".
Nice rhyming na! lol..Anyways, I'd had really disastrous experiences with sunscreen lotions so far, so this summer I gave up on any lotion. Instead, I thought of getting a sun block cream for myself. After reading so many good reviews about Lotus's sunscreens and sunblocks, I decided to buy this particular sun block, while buying my usual grocery at Spar, Oasis Mall, Bangalore. I've been using it since past 2 weeks now and hence thought of reviewing it here:

My experience with this sunblock cream:
Before getting to what I experienced from this cream, let me tell you some facts about my skin. I am a medium-fair toned girl and according to MAC, my skin tone varies between NC 37 and NC 40. My skin type is oily/combination and is not very sensitive. The most annoying thing about my skin is that it sweats like hell. In fact whenever I come out in heat, or start doing any physical activity, my face is the first thing to react to the temperature change. It starts sweating from forehead and then goes all around my nose and chin! Apart from that, it is highly prone to get severely tanned and sun-burnt even on slight exposure to sun. Many times it has happened that, after lunch when I and my friend go for a walk outside; my whole face becomes red especially on my cheeks within a span of 5 minutes. And I feel so much burning sensation on the red areas that I have to wash my face many times with cold water to get the soothing and cooling effect back. So, with that skin type and with the blistering heat and ever scorching sun outside, it had always been very difficult for me to travel without a scarf wrapped around my face.
Now, coming to this cream, when I applied it first time I was quite astonished with its thickness and the kind of layer it created on my skin. It literally felt like an amour! But, it didn't feel heavy at the same time. Just a bit stickiness, which I got controlled by tapping some compact on it. Also, the smell was somewhat weird and funny. My face became perfectly matte within 5 minutes. So far so good!
I put this cream on its first test, when I went out on a hunt to get an "Electric heater" for cooking purposes outside in afternoon, some two weeks back. We were supposed to roam around in bike, under scorching sun rays from shop to shop to get the right stuff. I know it was a tough and rather dangerous test I was putting on this cream, but something’s better than nothing was what I thought.
We roamed around for some 1-2 hours outside and I must say I was thoroughly amazed of not feeling any burning sensation on my face despite constant sun exposure. I kept on asking my husband (who earlier used to compare me to monkey because of the red cheeks I used to get under sun), whether I got red faced again? He also wondered, saying “No you are looking absolutely fine the way you looked when we started from home!”
And I was like - WOW!!!! I had to believe the results after I came back home 4 hours later to see my face absolutely fresh, without any "oiliness" or redness or tan!!
So, with that experience I continued using this cream regularly and now let us get to the pros and cons of this cream:
Pros:
1) This has become my HG sunblock cream now. It works excellently in protecting my skin from any tan or sunburn with its high SPF 50.
2) The cream is a bit thick in consistency and hence doesn't get runny like other sunscreens in hot and humid climate.
3) Though it gives a bit sticky finish after applying on face, the stickiness can easily be tamed with application of compact or loose powder.
4) It didn't give me any allergic reactions or side effects.
5) It gets absorbed quickly and doesn't give any severe oiliness or greasiness to my face.
6) It comes with a flip open cap making it easy to apply and handy to carry.

Cons:
1) It has very weird and rather baddd smell, something like burnt plastic or burnt rubber. I had to literally wrinkle my nose the first time I applied it. But, I am happy with the results so don't mind putting it on. Also, the smell goes off after 2-3 minutes of application.
2) Price for the quantity may be an off factor for some, but seeing its effectiveness, I don't mind getting it again and again.
3) No complete list of ingredients. Only Active ingredients are listed on the pack.

Rating: 4.5/5 (0.5 deducted coz of burnt plastic smell)
Overall verdict: This cream is really meant to take care of Indian summers and harsh sun rays we get exposed to daily. I use it everyday before stepping out and I don't have to close my cab's windows to stop letting sunrays in. I love to feel the morning air and now don't feel any burning sensation on my face every time I go out in sun. Definitely recommended!!!
